Hello East Africa
For the first time, Rwandese artists are organizing an international artworks exhibition in Rwanda. The title of the exhibition “Hello East Africa” is programmatic as the exhibition aims to present contemporary East African art to the Rwandan public.
Fourteen artists from Burundi, Kenya, Rwanda, Tanzania and Uganda are showing 135 recent paintings and sculptures in diverse locations in Kigali from 22 March until 29 March 2012. Participating artists are Pacifique Ndayiheke from Burundi, Samuel Githui from Kenya, Arlette Vandeneycken, Epa Binamungu, Janvier Ndolimana, Jean Bosco Bakunzi, Laurent Hategekimana, Medard Bizimana, Pascal Bushayija, and Strong Karakire from Rwanda, Haji Chilonga, James Haule and Salum Kambi from Tanzania and David Kigozi from Uganda.
Hello East Africa exhibition is curated by the artists Epa Binamungu and Arlette Vandeneycken of the Rwandan artists association Isoko Arts Rwanda. A catalogue is available at the openings.
